I sometimes find it difficult to believe that I took 28 years to find you. But when we met, it was beautiful. I felt like I had known you forever. There was an instant connection. No awkward moments. None of those 'have to have a couple of time before you really like it' moments.

I still remember, it was late afternoon. 2nd week of May. Cape Cod. There was a light breeze and it was still a little chilly even though the sun was out. We were hungry. Most places had shut down for lunch.

And just when we gave up hope of finding anything authentic, from the town (imagine we were settling down for some sandwiches and fries) we saw your wicked invitation. Stuck on the wall, on a plain yellow paper. Unassuming, just as you are. But a self-assured note nonetheless.

"Hot Clam Chowda - $3.99 While she lasts" And you know the story from there on...

I still wonder sometimes. What if I hadn't gotten the last cup? What if I had actually left Cape Cod without meeting you? What if our paths had never crossed? I don't even want to think about all of this. Even though it took so long, I'm glad we found each other. Life has never been the same, now that you're a part of it.

Lovingly Yours

Y

PS: That's my friend Gina in the picture. I shouldn't underestimate her role in bringing us together. After all she's the one who spotted your note!
